T

wo Greek Super League clubs - and "Panionios" - have received very strict penalties for the mass brawls between multi-hundred fans before last weekend's matches.

As expected, both clubs have been deducted 3 points each from the league table. In addition, "Olympiacos," who participated in the Chemion League, will have to play their next home matches "behind closed doors," without fans, and they have also been fined 300,000 euros. "Panionios" fans will miss 4 home matches of their team, with the club also receiving a 100,000 euro fine.

The incident occurred at the "Panionios" stadium before last Sunday's match between these teams. Hundreds of fans from both clubs clashed with each other, and several police officers were injured. Due to the incident, the match was not even started.

Official representatives of "Panionios" claimed that only 322 tickets were allocated to "Olympiacos" fans, but more than a thousand forcefully entered the stadium.

The incident drew the attention of the police, who started an investigation. The trial was supposed to take place in the middle of last week, but due to a false bomb threat in court, it only took place yesterday, on Friday. The court decided that both clubs were to blame for the match delay.

Both clubs intend to appeal the decision.

Furthermore, this is not the first similar case for the "Olympiacos" club. The team was fined 65,000 euros by UEFA for the throwing of flares and various objects by their fans during the match against "Deportivo." UEFA based this decision on the general lack of security in the stadium and the fact that this problem has occurred not for the first time.
