On Tuesday, the second leg matches of the UEFA Europa League round of 16 were played, in which the Moscow CSKA footballers separated peacefully 1-1 from Salonika PAOK team in front of their own fans, but thanks to a minimal 0-1 victory in the away game, they advanced to the next stage of the tournament.
The Russian club with Deivid Šemberas in charge complicated their situation in the middle of the second half, when after a childish mistake by defenders, the ball ended up in the hosts' goal, and the overall result of the two matches became equal.
However, the Lithuanian team managed to avoid extra time - in the 80th minute, Zoran Tošić was brought down in the penalty area by the opponent's goalkeeper Dario Kresic, the referee did not hesitate to award a penalty kick and although Vágner Love's shot was inaccurate, Sergej Ignashevich was the first to pounce on the rebounding ball.
In the first leg of the quarterfinals, which will take place in two weeks, the Moscow CSKA footballers will face the winner of the "Sevilla" - "Porto" pair.
