Jose Manuel Pinto will soon sign a new one-year contract with . This was announced at a press conference held on Thursday by the goalkeeper himself of the Catalan team.

According to the Spaniard, all the details with the club officials have already been agreed upon, only "a few small details" remain. The new contract will be valid until June 30, 2012. The goalkeeper's previous contract with Barcelona would have expired this summer.

Pinto admitted that he wanted to sign a contract for two seasons, but the club offered a one-year contract.

"This is not a problem. I was worried whether I would even receive a new offer, so when I got it, I had no doubt," said the second Barcelona goalkeeper.

The Spaniard also did not miss the opportunity to rejoice in the fact that Josep Guardiola signed a new contract with the club. It was Guardiola, the current strategist of the Catalan club, who called Pinto to the team at the end of 2008 when Victor Valdes's backup, Albert Jorquera, suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury.

Later, Barcelona took advantage of a condition written in the loan agreement with Celta Vigo, allowing them to keep Pinto for free if a two-year contract was offered. In 2010, the goalkeeper signed a new one-year contract, which he now intends to extend for another season.

Pinto did not avoid questions about possible relationship between his teammate Gerardo Pique and singer Shakira.

In response, the goalkeeper replied vaguely but succinctly: "I also love. My wife. Being in love is a great feeling, so I'm glad to see Gerard happy."
