The new head coach of the Qatar national team has been appointed Milovan Rajevac. The Serb will replace Frenchman Bruno Metsu, who was dismissed last month after losing in the quarterfinals of the Asia Cup tournament.
"We wanted a good coach and we are convinced that Rajevac is the right one," said Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, president of the Qatar Football Association (QFA).
"He has experience working in our country, as he has assisted Bora Milutinović at the Al Sadd club, which should greatly help him." Rajevac has signed a contract that will run until 2014.
Last summer, the coach trained the Ghana national team and reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup, where they lost to Uruguay after a penalty shootout. His team also reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
