The knife-wielding man tried to stab the coach Jose Mourinho, who was signing autographs at Madrid airport. During the incident in the northern Spanish city of La Coruna, one of the club's security guards was injured, but the Portuguese coach was unharmed.
The incident took place last Friday, but it was only reported by the radio station "Cadena Ser" on Saturday evening.
Mourinho himself was unharmed and perhaps did not even notice what had happened at the time. The security guard also only realized he was injured much later, when he was already sitting on the team bus.
Real Madrid reinforced its security measures for Sunday's match against Racing Santander.
