The club finally won the battle for the young goalkeeper Scott Carson. The nineteen-year-old player passed a medical examination today, finally confirming his transfer to Liverpool.
The "Reds" have been fighting for some time to acquire the young goalkeeper, along with money for new player purchases. The player himself chose Liverpool and stated that his decision was influenced not by money, but by the greater opportunity to play longer.
"We wish him the greatest success in his new club," said Leeds representative Bryan Morris. "During his time at Leeds, he proved to be a top-class goalkeeper and I have no doubt that he will continue to play that way."
The transfer fee is around 750 thousand pounds and can increase to 1 million based on the conditions set out in the contract. The player has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.
Liverpool has been grappling with goalkeeping issues for some time, as neither J. Dudekas nor the currently injured C. Kirkland have been able to play as reliably as coach R. Benitez would like.
