On Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, two second-leg matches were played, after which it became clear that defending champion Milan "Inter" and English league leader "Man Utd" are advancing to the quarter-finals.
Milan's "Inter" team kept their hopes alive for a second consecutive time to win prestigious trophies, defeating Bayern Munich 3-2 away, who have been struggling this season on all fronts.
Since the Germans won the first leg in Italy with a minimal result of 1-0, Leonardo's players secured a spot in the quarter-finals due to three away goals.
At the start of the second-leg match, the Milan team took the lead when Samuel Eto'o scored his 32nd goal of the season, equalizing the overall score.
However, soon after a mistake by Julio Cesar, reminiscent of the one he made in Milan, Mario Gomez restored parity, and a few minutes later Thomas Muller put Bayern ahead, seemingly securing victory for this pair. Manchester United's team narrowly defeated a tough "Marseille" club 2-1 at home after a goalless draw in France.
At the start of the match, Javier Hernandez scored from close range after a Wayne Rooney shot. Marseille had a great chance to equalize moments later, but Andre Pierre Gignac missed over the goal, and shortly after, Souleymane Diawara's header went wide.
After the break, "Man Utd" couldn't solidify their advantage, and "Marseille" didn't lose hope of breaking into the next round - they were missing a precise shot from their eleven.
However, hopes seemed dashed in the 75th minute when Hernandez scored his second goal from close range after a precise attack.
But soon after, the visitors' hopes revived - Wes Brown scored an own goal after a corner. Still, "Marseille" failed to deliver a sensation in the remaining time - "Man Utd" advanced to the quarter-finals.
