Defender of the Catalonia club's youth academy Andreu Fontas will finish this year's season in the main team.
It has been officially announced that the 21-year-old footballer will temporarily replace Eric Abidal, whose liver doctors found a tumor. It is believed that the Frenchman's rehabilitation will take a long time and he will not appear on the field this season.
The young defender made his debut in the main squad of Barcelona in the 2009-2010 season, when he played briefly in a match against Chichon's "Sporting" team.
This season, Fontas played a total of three matches: in the King's Cup against "Ceuta," in the Spanish League against "Almeria," and in the Champions League against Kazan's "Rubin." In these games, the defender scored one goal and provided an assist to his teammate Pedro Rodriguez.
In the main Barcelona team, Fontas will wear the number 26 jersey.
