The club has acquired defender Ben Thatcher for 500 thousand pounds sterling. The Welshman has signed a three and a half year contract.
The tough playing defender has been asking to be sold for some time now, as he has not been able to adapt to the new club since the summer transfer. Furthermore, his house was burgled twice, and his wife moved to another city for these reasons.
Manchester City coach Kevin Keegan wanted the 29-year-old defender to stay in his team, but after welcoming another defender Stephen Jordan and receiving an acceptable offer from Fulham, the coach agreed to release the player.
Born in Swindon, B. Thatcher began his professional career representing Millwall. In 1996, he moved to Wimbledon, and four years later to Tottenham. Throughout his three-year career at Tottenham, he played only 36 matches due to injuries. Later, the defender represented Leicester for one season, and last summer he joined Manchester City.
