The most interesting match on Saturday took place in Gelsenkirchen, where Schalke met the reigning champions Werder. The hosts won 2-1, with the Brazilian Ailton scoring the winning goal. It is worth mentioning that Ailton left Bremen this summer and moved to Schalke.
