In the "Premier League" of England on Sunday, two matches were played.
London's "Chelsea" delighted their fans with a well-deserved 2-0 victory against "Man City", allowing the capital team to surpass the Manchester club and rise to third place in the league table.
In this match, "Man City" played without the injured Carlos Tevez and rarely threatened the opponents' goal, although a dangerous shot from Yaya Toure was blocked by Petr Cech.
However, in the 79th minute, "Chelsea's" efforts paid off when the team's new recruit David Luiz sent the ball into the net with a header after a penalty kick.
The lead was doubled in stoppage time by Ramires, who confused two defenders and ended up one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Liverpool achieved a significant victory, beating "Sunderland" 2-0 away.
The match started with both teams showing a high tempo, but the crucial moment came in the 33rd minute when John Mensah made a mistake and took down Liverpool's defender Jay Spearing, resulting in a penalty.
Although the referee initially awarded a penalty kick on the edge of the penalty area, after consulting with the assistant referee Kevin Friend, he changed his decision and pointed to the 11-meter mark. Despite the hosts' protests, Dirk Kuyt converted the penalty kick and put Liverpool ahead.
This decision ultimately determined the outcome of the match - "Sunderland" could not recover, and "Liverpool" had a chance to double their lead in the 77th minute when the club's newcomer Luis Suarez scored from a sharp angle inside the penalty area.
After this victory, "Liverpool" (45 points) secured sixth place in the league table and narrowed the gap from London's "Tottenham" in fifth place to four points. However, the London team has played one match less.
Meanwhile, "Sunderland" is in ninth place.
