On Saturday, nine matches of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. The leading teams secured victories, while Edgaras Jankauskas' club "Nice" experienced their eighth season loss.
"Nice" suffered a defeat away against one of the league's underdogs "Bastia," but remained in twelfth place due to favorable results in other stadiums: the match between "PSG" and "Saint-Etienne" ended goalless, "Sochaux" achieved a resounding victory against "Bordeaux," and "Metz" lost at home to "Marseille" team.
Holding on to the third position with their tenth season victory, "Monaco" defeated "Lens" club with a two-goal margin at home. The match between "Caen" and "Auxerre" also ended with a similar result in favor of the away team. Three points were also won by the team in sixth place, "Toulouse," and the seventh-placed "Rennes," who won against "Ajaccio."
On Sunday, there will be a super showdown in the championship - the leaders "Lille" and "Lyon" will face each other. The latter is already ahead of the Lyon team by 6 points, so a victory is necessary for the home team, "Lille."
