Spanish national team defender Alvaro Arbeloa hopes that the European Championship qualifying match against Lithuania will not be postponed.
UEFA delegates and referees plan to make a decision on Monday whether the condition of the pitch at the Darius and Girenas Stadium is suitable for Tuesday's game. If the match is postponed, it could be moved to the month of June.
"We hope to play, but it is not up to us," said the Real Madrid footballer. "The worst thing that could happen is an injury. We hope that the hosts will be able to improve the pitch conditions in the next few days and the match will take place."
Forecasting the course of the match, Arbeloa said: "If the opponents close ranks in defense, as we often see, it means we are stronger. We will have the ball, so there will be opportunities. We shouldn't worry, because such matches make up about 80 percent of the total."
