The substitute goalkeeper in the team will remain until the summer of 2012.

On Wednesday, Jose Manuel Pinto and Barcelona president Sandro Rosell signed a new goalkeeper's contract that will be valid until June 30 of next year, at the Catalonia club headquarters.

The current contract for Pinto would have expired this summer. The goalkeeper's buyout amount remains unchanged at 5 million euros.

In the winter of 2008, Barcelona borrowed Pinto from the Celta team in Vigo for 0.5 million euros. The Catalans were forced to acquire another goalkeeper, as their then deputy Victor Valdes suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury during a friendly match.

That same summer, Barca took advantage of the possibility in the loan agreement to keep the goalkeeper for free if offered a two-year contract.
