UEFA Champions League quarter-final stage battles began on Tuesday.
The Madrid "Real" and Gelsenkirchen "Schalke" teams took a solid step towards the next stage, winning victories in high-scoring matches and sending their opponents into a deep knockout, from which it will be difficult for anyone to recover.
"Real" won 4-0 at home against London's "Tottenham" team, which played with ten men from the 15th minute after Peter Crouch received two unnecessary yellow cards. Although the Spaniards still have to travel to England, the Royal club has practically secured a place in the semi-finals.
The atmosphere in the "Schalke" camp is no less joyful - the team, currently occupying the tenth place in the German championship, crushed the reigning champion "Inter" from Milan 5-2 away. The Italian eleven will have to try to perform a miracle - score at least four goals in Gelsenkirchen.
