On Wednesday, the remaining two UEFA Champions League quarter-final matches were played.

The favorite "Barcelona" practically secured their place in the semi-finals by crushing the ambitions of Donetsk's "Shakhtar" team 5-1 at home.

Andreas Iniesta, who played excellently, led the hosts forward just a few minutes into the game, and later, after a wonderful pass from the Spaniard, Dani Alves sent the ball into the net.

The third goal for the Catalan team was scored by defender Gerard Pique, while the Ukrainian hopes were raised in the 59th minute when Jaroslav Rakitskiy redirected the ball into the net after a penalty kick.

However, in the next attack, Seydou Keita restored the three-goal advantage with a powerful shot into the top corner, and towards the end of the match, defenders Xavi secured the victory after Alves's pass from the wing.

The winner of this pair in the semi-finals, which will be determined after the second leg on April 12 in Donetsk, will likely face Madrid's "Real", as the Spaniards crushed London's "Tottenham" 4-0 in the first leg on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in London, a precise shot by Wayne Rooney resulted in a significant 1-0 victory for "Man Utd" against London's "Chelsea".

The English national team player sent the ball into the net in the 24th minute with a weak shot from a rebound after Ryan Giggs' run into the penalty area from the left wing.

At the end of the first half, "Chelsea" could have equalized, but a shot by Didier Drogba hit the post, and the first player to reach the ball, Frank Lampard, hit the defender Patrice Evra standing on the goal line.

In the second half, Fernando Torres came closest to scoring, but his header was tipped over the crossbar by Manchester's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.
