The sports director carefully chose his words before the UEFA Champions League second leg match against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Despite Barcelona sweeping their opponents from Ukraine at home, Andoni Zubizarreta emphasized the importance of the upcoming match: "Football has taught us to remember that in this game nothing is lost until you achieve the final victory."
One of the leaders from Catalonia reminded journalists of the match in the King's Cup tournament against Real Betis. Barcelona convincingly won the first match, but faced failure away due to complacency. However, this did not stop the Spanish champions from progressing to the next stage.
"Despite winning the match against Shakhtar convincingly at Camp Nou, we do not believe that everything is already done. We respect each opponent, so we need to approach the match in Donetsk with proper focus and play in our usual style," noted Zubizarreta.
The Barcelona sports director did not want to discuss the upcoming showdown with Real Madrid with the media: "Right now, the most important thing is the match in Ukraine, and we will talk about El Clasico late on Tuesday evening."
