The newspaper "El Mundo Deportivo" reports that the possibility of buying out the contract of defender Martin Cacereso after this season is being considered in Catalonia. The rights to the 24-year-old Uruguayan still belong to the club, whose agreement with the player is valid until the summer of 2012.
According to the publication, the team from Andalusia would like to keep the player and sign a long-term contract with him. The fact that the defender's contract with Barcelona will expire after the next season is the main factor tempting Sevilla. It is believed that a relatively small buyout fee of 3 million euros would satisfy the Catalan club.
Unofficially, Barcelona's President Sandro Rosell and head coach Josep Guardiola support this decision. Since taking over the management of the Catalan team last year, the new leadership constantly emphasizes the need to carefully choose players in the transfer market. It is said that the Uruguayan's playing style does not satisfy Barcelona's coach, so there should be no doubts about selling the defender.
According to "El Mundo Deportivo," Barcelona also plans to offer Sporting Gijon 1.5 million euros to buy out the contract of defender Alberto Botia this summer. The player was loaned to the team from Asturias for four years for free, but Barca has the right to recall the 22-year-old defender at any time.
It is believed that the funds received from player sales this summer will be added to the approximately 50 million euros planned to be spent on acquiring new players.
