The conductor of Atletico Xavi claims that despite the draw, his team significantly outperformed Madrid's "Real" on Saturday.
The duel of the Spanish championship ended in a draw 1-1 and practically secured another Spanish champions title for the Catalans.
"We played much better than our opponents," said Xavi. "It's a shame we didn't win, because then we would have been calm about the first place.
"The draw is not a very good result for us or for them. We are always ambitious, so we wanted all three points. We controlled the game, but in the end we created problems for ourselves."
The Spaniard also did not comment on "Real" coach Jose Mourinho's criticism of the referee: "I have nothing to say about that. We are waiting for the next match between us."
