In the 2005 season of "Virsliga" in Latvian football, a new club will appear. Recently it was decided to gather a new team made up of young players loaned from other clubs in the top Latvian league.

The Latvian Football Federation has decided that the newly formed team "Olimps" from Riga will fill the vacant 9th place in the league, instead of the previous year's lower league winners Ilukste "Zibens-Zemessardze", who withdrew from playing due to financial problems.

Most players of the "Olimps" club will not be older than 23 years. The team will be coached by former Latvia U-19 national team coach Janis Dreimanis. He stated that "Olimps" will also include older, more experienced players who will help the young footballers gain experience.

"Our young players need experienced players who can play with them, help them, teach them; we need those who know everything about football, especially for those playing in Virsliga for the first time," said the coach.
