Mourinho: I like being a coach who wins trophies. © EuroFootball.com

Jose Mourinho stated that he is proud of the first trophy won while leading the Madrid club.

After an almost two-decade break, the capital's team defeated Barcelona in the final on Wednesday.

A few days ago, the legend of the Catalan team, Johan Cruyff, criticized Mourinho, stating that he is not a football coach because he only seeks trophies, but the Portuguese took it as a compliment: "Winning titles is good. Recently, someone called me a coach who wins trophies, not football. Thank you. I like being like that."

He continued: "This is a special feeling. We deservedly defeated an excellent team. There is no reason why we couldn't beat our opponents in the Champions League, because we just played one match evenly and won the other. I came here to change the mentality, and we have started to do that - but it's only the beginning."

Meanwhile, defender Sergio Ramos added: "Mourinho is the captain of our ship, and we will be with him until death."
