London coach Harry Redknapp says that the club needs to strengthen the squad even if they do not qualify for the next season's Champions League tournament.
Currently, in the English Premier League, the capital's team is in fifth place and risks losing their spot in the most prestigious tournament on the Old Continent. It was said that in this case, the owners would not be able to allocate much funds for the acquisition of new football players.
"There should not be two scenarios. If we want to get back into the Champions League, we need to improve," Redknapp said. "People say that if we qualify for this tournament, then we will buy players. However, if we don't do that, we will definitely not play in the Champions League."
Redknapp did not rule out the possibility of trying to attract London's Chelsea striker Didier Drogba: "Drogba is a great footballer, having everything a striker needs. You never know what might happen, but Chelsea has to decide about his future."
