Madrid leaders are trying to keep goalkeeper David De Gea in the team and offer him to extend his contract.
The Spaniard is one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in Europe. He is considered a contender to replace Edwin van der Sar at Manchester United.
However, Atletico denies that any agreement has been reached with the English team and hopes to retain one of their leaders.
"De Gea is a wonderful player, and his contract expires in two years, so we offered to extend it," said Madrid club president Enrique Cerezo. "But it does not depend on us."
