The championship leader "Schalke" team suffered an unexpected defeat. The Gelsenkirchen club had to admit the superiority of "Kaiserslautern" as the away team. Ioannis Amanatidis and Stefan Blank scored the goals for the winners.
Following "Schalke's" failure, "Stuttgart" also failed to take advantage, suffering a painful home defeat against "Nurnberg" with a score of 2-4. After eleven minutes, "Nurnberg" was already leading 0-2, but the hosts did not give up and equalized in the 70th minute. However, this was all they could do - soon the visitors scored two more goals and ultimately buried the opponents.
"Wolfsburg" players suffered their second consecutive defeat. They lost 1-0 as the away team to the absolute league outsider "Freiburg". The only goal of the match was scored by Zlatan Bajramovic.
"Bayer" Leverkusen fought for a brilliant victory and climbed to fourth place: the team defeated "Bochum" at home with a score of 4-0, with goals from Jacek Krzynowek, Andriy Voronin, Robson Ponte, and Franca.
Meanwhile, in front of eighty thousand spectators at the Westfalen Stadium, the match between the two "Borussians" - Dortmund and Mönchengladbach - ended in a 1-1 draw.
