T

he leader of the French championship and Brazilian Giovane Elber stand out - by mutual agreement, the player's contract with the club was terminated.

The 32-year-old Elber, who broke his leg last August and is still recovering from the injury, recently angered the club's officials after undergoing surgery for the second time without permission, and later delaying his return to the team after the Christmas holidays.

So this month, Lyon announced that the recovering Elber will be replaced in the team by his compatriot 20-year-old Nilmar - such a decision had to be made by the French champion club due to the limit of foreign players, as according to the rules, an injured foreign player can be replaced by another player until the first one recovers from the injury.

Elber joined Lyon last season, and scored 14 goals in 39 matches, helping the team win the French championship. In his previous career, the Brazilian represented the Munich team for six years.

By the way, the recent poor weather prevailing in almost all of Europe also affected the French "Ligue 1" matches - today's match between Bastia and Lyon was postponed due to bad weather.
