Sir Alex Ferguson admits that the loss gives a real chance for the London club to defend the title of English champion.
On Sunday, the Scots lost 0-1 away to London's "Arsenal" and are now trailing "Chelsea" by just three points. Interestingly, next Sunday "Man Utd" and "Chelsea" will play against each other.
Ferguson admitted that in the match against "Arsenal" the hosts should have been awarded a penalty kick, as Nemanja Vidic touched the ball with his hand, but he was disappointed with the referee's decision not to award a penalty towards the end of the match.
"Of course, in this situation "Chelsea" gains some good chances," Ferguson said. "That's what happens when we have to accept such referee decisions.
"The match was too important to make such mistakes, even though they compensated for each other."
"I didn't see the incident, but I know perfectly well that it was a mistake," Owen wrote on a social media site. "I heard that even the "Arsenal" team didn't get a penalty in the first half, so I can't complain too much. It's important to forget this failure and look to the future. Our position is still excellent."
