Mark van Bommel hopes to stay at the club for the next season.

The veteran midfielder signed a half-year contract with an Italian team in January, when he left Bayern Munich.

"The Italian league is great and very interesting," he said. "I feel great here, but it's not up to me, it's up to the club. If they ask me to stay, I don't know how I could refuse."

The 34-year-old football player started his career at Fortuna Sittard in 1992, and soon moved to PSV Eindhoven.

In 2005, van Bommel's career took him to Spain - he signed a contract with Barcelona and won the Champions League. However, after losing his place in the starting lineup, he moved to Bayern.
