Fired "Porto" coach V.Fernandez © EuroFootball.com

Released from the team of Portuguese champions and Champions League winners is the head coach, Spanish Victor Fernandez, who has been in his position for only half a year. The new head coach of the team is expected to be Jose Couceiro, who led the team "Vitoria".

The patience cup of the team leaders overflowed after the defeat to "Braga" team 1-3 last weekend. In total, in the last four matches, the "Porto" footballers won only one and currently share the 3-5 places in the championship.

Fernandez himself says he did not expect to be fired. "Before those matches, we were in first place in the championship, and after them, they already fired me. I was very surprised when the president called me and informed me about it. I think it's unfair. That's what I told him," says Fernandez, who signed a two-year contract with the club at the beginning of the season.

Although Fernandez had a hard time fighting in the national championship, the team played quite successfully on the international stage. The team won the Intercontinental ("Toyota") Cup between Europe and South America in December and qualified for the Champions League knockout rounds.

By the way, Fernandez is the second coach that "Porto" has fired this season. Before the start of this season, the team had signed a contract with Italian strategist Luigi Del Neri, who was supposed to replace the departed Jose Mourinho, but he was fired for unclear reasons without even leading a single match.
