The managing director David Gill claims that the club has already decided who they would like to see in the position of the main goalkeeper next season.
Since the 40-year-old veteran Edwin van der Sar is hanging up his gloves, the English champions have been looking for a replacement for the Dutchman.
Currently, the backup goalkeeper is Polish Tomas Kuszczak, but his performance has not impressed the coaches, so he will be allowed to leave in the summer.
It is said that the main candidate is Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea, but the names of Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax, Igor Akinfeev from CSKA, Hugo Lloris from Lyon, among others, are also mentioned.
"We already know which goalkeeper we want. We are in a good situation and hope to continue negotiations in the summer," said Gill. "We have made a decision, so I hope we will reach an agreement."
