Jorge Valdano is likely to step down from his position as general director of Madrid due to disagreements with head coach Jose Mourinho.
According to reports, Valdano submitted his resignation letter a few weeks ago but president Florentino Perez urged his colleague to stay at least until the end of the season.
Valdano and Mourinho do not see eye to eye due to differing opinions on team formation. In January, Mourinho wanted to purchase a new striker and eventually succeeded in bringing in Emmanuel Adebayor. Meanwhile, Valdano and Perez urged to work with the forces that were already present and to have more trust in Frenchman Karim Benzema.
