Antonio Conte has become the most likely candidate to take over as head coach of Turin this summer.
The current team strategist, Luigi Delneri, did not meet the expectations placed on him and will most likely leave the 'old lady' at the end of the season.
According to reports in the Italian press, last Sunday in Milan Conte met with "Juventus" sporting director Giuseppe Marotta and his assistant Fabio Paratici.
Conte agreed to sign a two-year contract, earning one and a half million euros per season.
The former "Juventus" captain coached the "Siena" team competing in the Italian "Serie B" this season and secured promotion to "Serie A" with them.
"Juve" was also linked to other coaches. Not long ago, there were reports in the press that "Napoli" coach Walter Mazzarri would leave the club and replace Delneri, but it turned out to be just baseless rumors.
Possible candidates mentioned were St. Petersburg's "Zenit" coach Luciano Spalletti and "Man City" coach Roberto Mancini, but both rejected such speculation.
The last candidate to take over as "Juventus" coach was "Porto" coach Villas-Boas, but his release clause, amounting to 15 million euros, seemed too high for the Turin team.
There is still no official news from the "Juventus camp regarding Conte's appointment. Yesterday, one of the directors of the 'old lady,' Pavel Nedved, in an interview, had warm words for his former teammate.
"He is a true coach. That's what he was when we played together on the field. I think Conte will be a wonderful coach," Nedved affirmed.
Meanwhile, yesterday "Juventus" president Andrea Agnelli did not hide his anger over the poor results of the team.
"I am very dissatisfied and will not hide my anger, but we need to wait until the end of the championship. There are only five more matches left, and when they are over, we will talk about the next season," Agnelli said.
