The legend of Madrid Hugo Sanchez claims that he would gladly watch Cristiano Ronaldo break his scoring record, but he wouldn't want it to be done by his fierce rival, Barcelona's star Lionel Messi.
The famous footballer scored his 38th goal in the Spanish championship in 1990, matching the record set by Zarra in 1951.
Now Cristiano Ronaldo has the opportunity to do the same, as he has already scored 38 times with just one round left before the end of the championship.
"I think Cristiano will break the record," said Sanchez. "It is very likely that he will send the ball into the net of 'Almeria'.
It has always been an honor for me to share this record with the legendary Telmo Zarra, and now it will be the same with Cristiano. But I didn't want Messi to do it. I have nothing against him, but the Argentine represents the 'Barcelona' club."
