On Saturday, the Lithuanian football community gathered in Kaunas to discuss the main issues of the country's football development. The LFF Conference is the highest authority of the LFF. According to the LFF statutes, federation members, currently 17, delegate 5 representatives to the Conference. Currently, 85 delegates are involved in resolving the main football issues of the country. The Conference takes place once a year, decisions are made by a simple majority vote.
At today's conference, 68 delegates participated and approved the 2010 report of the Lithuanian Football Federation activities, last year's financial statements, and the report of an independent auditor, as well as the budget for this year. At this year's conference, for another 4-year term, the LFF general director Julius Kvedaras was unanimously approved. J. Kvedaras' candidacy was submitted to the LFF Conference by the LFF Executive Committee.
"I thank everyone for their trust. I was, am, and will always be in the football party. As long as I am here, my attitudes do not change," - said J. Kvedaras.
J. Kvedaras has been holding the position of LFF general director since 2000. Since 2007, he is also a member of the UEFA Professional Football Committee. According to the LFF statutes, the general director is elected and dismissed by the LFF Conference for a 4-year term.
As a footballer, J. Kvedaras played in the teams of Klaipėda's "Atlantas" and Vilnius' "Žalgiris," and for many years played in various clubs. In 1995-1996, the team he trained, Kaunas "Inkaras," became the champion of Lithuania. As a player and coach, J. Kvedaras participated in the Lithuanian Cup finals 9 times.
The decisions of the Conference take effect on the day after the Conference.
