According to "Daily Mirror", the English champions have already agreed to pay just over 18 million euros for the 20-year-old Madrid footballer.
However, "Man Utd" manager Sir Alex Ferguson had initially considered German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to replace the retiring Edwin van der Sar, but he remained in his homeland, so they had to look for other options.
Among the candidates were also mentioned Maarten Stekelenburg, Hugo Lloris, and Rui Patricio.
