The Spanish newspaper AS announces that they will confirm the acquisition of goalkeeper David De Gea next Monday.
As veteran Edwin van der Sar is retiring, the priority for the English champions this summer is a new goalkeeper. It seems that their search will not be long, and a 20-year-old Spaniard will be acquired for 20 million euros.
According to AS, De Gea rejected an offer from Atletico to extend his contract, as he would like to try his luck with another team.
Among other candidates to replace Van der Sar, goalkeepers such as Igor Akinfeev, Hugo Lloris, and Maarten Stekelenburg have been mentioned. The latter is now considered a contender to join Atletico and compete in De Gea's place.
