Coach Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that the club should be joined by Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea in the near future.
The English champions are looking for a new goalkeeper, as veteran Edwin van der Sar will retire after this season.
"Negotiations have been going on for quite some time," said Ferguson. "David is young, quick, and cool-headed, so he will be able to replace Van Der Sar."
Meanwhile, "Atletico" president Enrique Cerezo told the radio station "Cadea Ser": "We don't know anything. Neither the player nor Man Utd informed us. De Gea knows well that he can negotiate with other clubs, but only if they agree to pay the amount specified in the contract."
It is said that the buyout clause in the contract is around 25 million euros."
