The Romanian Cup tournament match narrowly avoided a potentially major disaster. In the Bucharest derby between "Dinamo" and "Steaua", during a run towards the penalty area by the first team's defender Eliseu Bakaj, a firework thrown from the stands flew past his head onto the field. The match was stopped, and the issue was resolved by firefighters. "Steaua" won the game 2-1 and claimed their first trophy since 2006.
