Gabriel Heinze confirmed that he will leave the club after the last match of the French championship.
The 33-year-old defender moved to Marseille in 2009 from Real Madrid, but decided to leave a year earlier than his contract expires.
"I could stay, I earn good money, but I came here not for that," said the Argentine. "I wanted to win trophies. But after the last conversation with the club's president, I realized that I would be doing a favor by leaving."
Meanwhile, coach Didier Deschamps said: "This is a big loss. I want to thank him for his work. With such men, Marseille can win titles, because Gabriel is a leader."
