Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that in the Champions League final his players lost to the best team he has seen during his long and colorful career.
In the decisive match, Manchester United had nothing to offer against Barcelona and lost 1-3.
"We lost to a truly outstanding team," - said the Scot on ITV1. - "I hoped we would play better, but we were beaten by a superior opponent. It was the strongest rival I have seen.
"We consistently show good results in European cup competitions, but there is no shame in stumbling against such an opponent. Sometimes opponents are just much better, and that was the case tonight."
Ferguson admitted that ending the season on such a note is not pleasing.
"Of course, we hoped everything would turn out differently. The season was great in many aspects, but we lost at Wembley stadium again. It's a shame that it ended like this," - said Ferguson.
