FIFA scandal: Did Qatar buy the right to host the World Cup? © EuroFootball.com

Suspended FIFA vice president Jack Warner has published an email claiming that Qatar bought the right to host the 2022 World Cup.

A leaked email allegedly written by FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke accuses Mohamed Bin Hammam, who was planning to run for FIFA president, of being responsible for this.

"Hammam thought he could buy FIFA the same way he bought the World Cup for Qatar," Valcke wrote.

Yesterday, FIFA suspended Warner and Bin Hammam over allegations of bribery. It is alleged that they tried to bribe members of the Caribbean Football Union to vote for Bin Hammam in the FIFA presidential elections.

Bin Hammam withdrew his candidacy on Sunday, leaving the current president, Sepp Blatter, as the only contender. The elections, as planned, will take place on Wednesday.
