Andrejus Ševčenka announced that he intends to end his professional football player career after the 2012 European Championship.
The experienced Kiev striker plans to represent the Ukrainian national team in the competitions taking place in this country and Poland.
"I have decided to retire after the European Championship," said 34-year-old Ševčenka. "This is my final decision."
In the Ukrainian league, Ševčenka scored ten goals in 18 matches last season and shared sixth place in the list of top scorers.
