Rafael Benitez rejects the opportunity to take the reins at Madrid, announces the Spanish press.
The club is looking for a new coach after Quique Sanchez Flores resigned from his position. Benitez was named as one of the main candidates, but the expert is not willing to take on the job.
The 51-year-old Benitez has repeatedly stated that he wants to continue his career in England, where he led Liverpool for six years. At the beginning of last season, he took on a role at Inter Milan, but was dismissed in winter.
Among other contenders to coach Atletico, Luis Enrique is mentioned, who is working with Barcelona's reserve team, and former Sevilla coach Gregorio Manzano.
