Sepp Blatter has been re-elected as FIFA President for a new four-year term.

The 75-year-old Swiss was the only candidate in the elections, as Mohamed Bin Hammam withdrew from the race earlier due to a corruption scandal.

The Swiss, who received 186 votes and will serve until 2015, said: "I thank you for the trust from the bottom of my heart. Our pyramid works successfully, we have a solid foundation, and we will continue the work we have started. The FIFA ship will return to clean and transparent waters. It will take some time, but we will succeed."

In addition, it was decided at the congress that from now on, the hosting country of the World Cup will be chosen by all 203 member countries, not a 24-person executive committee. The committee will only compile a list of candidates but will not make any recommendations.

These actions were taken because the victories of Russia and Qatar in the battle for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups sparked much discussion in the media, suggesting that the decisions were not made impartially.
