Munich officially confirmed that they acquired Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The value of the deal, according to various sources, ranges from 15 to 18 million euros, but additional clauses could increase it by about a third.

Neuer will sign a five-year contract after returning from the Germany national team camp.

"I can't wait for this new stage of my career and challenge to begin," said Neuer. "There are many friends from the national team in the Munich team, so I won't need a long period of adaptation."

"I am very pleased that we have signed a long-term contract with the best goalkeeper in the country and one of the best in the world," added Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Together with Neuer, Bayern also strengthened their team with Brazilian Rafinha, who represented the Genoa team. Bayern will pay about 5.3 million euros for him.

The 25-year-old full-back, who wore Schalke's shirt for five seasons before moving to Italy, has signed a three-year contract.
