During the winter break, also known as the "transfer window," not a single Champions League club saw any snowfall. This month the knockout matches will start, for which all teams have been intensively preparing. And not just in training. Champions League clubs were among the most active participants in the winter market.

The most active were Spanish, English, Dutch, and Portuguese clubs, inviting more than one famous player to join their ranks. The French decided to stay on the sidelines this time - neither of the two participating Champions League clubs acquired any new players. However, they also did not stand idly by during the market - they reduced their player rosters.

Probably one of the most interesting transfers took place between English and Spanish clubs. Initially struggling players from the "royal" club "escaped" to Liverpool Fernando Morientes, while Thomas Gravesen came from Everton to Real Madrid.

Interesting behavior during the transfer window was shown by the Juventus club. Promising not to participate in the "transfers" campaign when buying new players, head coach Fabio Capello later partially broke the promise by buying Adrian Mutu, who had been disqualified for cocaine use, later loaned to Livorno. However, this player will only be eligible to play from mid-May.
