London informed Madrid that negotiations for the acquisition of Cesc Fabregas can only start from an impressive sum of 61 million euros.
According to reports in the media, the director of the capital's team, Jose Angel Sanchez, contacted representatives of Arsenal to try to convince them to sell the creative midfielder.
According to sources in the Real Madrid club, president Florentino Perez is seeking to acquire Fabregas in order to upset Barcelona, who have been trying to bring back their academy graduate to Catalonia for several years.
"Perez believes that the acquisition of Fabregas would reveal very ambitious intentions for the next season. Everything will be done to put Barcelona in the shade of Real," a source from The Sun said.
It is added that Arsenal strongly rejects the possibility of selling Fabregas to another English team.
