In the European Championship qualifying tournament on Friday, eleven matches were played.
In the last minute, a goal scored by Mario Gomez allowed the German national team to celebrate another victory, defeating Austria 2-1 away.
Just before half-time, Gomez put the Germans in the lead, but in the 50th minute Arne Friedrich scored an own goal equalizing the score.
It seemed like the match would end in a draw, but Gomez headed the ball into the net after a pass from Philipp Lahm and knocked out the Austrians.
This victory allowed Joachim Low's team to increase their lead over their closest pursuers Belgium and Turkey, who ended their match peacefully with a 1-1 draw.
In Group C, Italy continues to lead, easily defeating Estonia 3-0. Giuseppe Rossi, Antonio Cassano, and Giampaolo Pazzini scored. Meanwhile, Slovenia avoided the fate of Lithuania and defeated the football minnows from the Faroe Islands 2-0.
In Group D, France dropped points as they only managed a 1-1 draw with Belarus due to an own goal by Eric Abidal. The defender made a mistake in the 20th minute, but the French equalized almost immediately through a precise strike by Florent Malouda.
