25th round: The intrigue in France fades © EuroFootball.com

On Saturday, the matches of the 25th round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played. Nine matches will take place today (Sunday) - "P.S.G" and "Lens" will meet in one of them.

After Saturday's matches, the leader "Lyon" further increased their advantage by crushing "Toulouse" 4-0 at their stadium, increasing their lead to 7 points against second-placed "Lille". The latter team once again failed to overcome their opponents, playing a draw with "Sochaux" and losing another 2 valuable points.

Two teams that can still compete for the championship title also lost points in this round - "Monaco" did not defeat "Nantes" away, while "Auxerre" could only manage a 2-2 draw at home with newcomer "Saint-Etienne".

Despite Marseille coach Philippe Troussier stating this week that he can't seem to adjust to the French style of play, his team continues to demonstrate that they are one of the strongest teams in "Ligue 1" at the moment. This time, Marseille's target was the team from "Rennes", which was defeated 3-1.

"Nice", led by Lithuanian striker Edgaras Jankauskas, played to a draw again, unable to beat "Metz". The Lithuanian national team forward was not registered for this match.
