Yesterday in Turkey, four matches of the UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup took place, where some of the best youth teams from Europe and Africa participated. Yesterday, the victories were celebrated by representatives of the two continents.
The favorite Spain national team secured a hard-fought victory, defeating Egypt by a minimal margin thanks to a penalty kick converted by the team's goalkeeper Carlos Carmona. This was already the third consecutive Spanish victory in this cup competition.
France also celebrated their third victory, beating the Nigerian footballers 2-0. After unexpected draws with the Egyptian team a few days ago, the Portuguese team also celebrated a victory.
There are still five matches left to be played in this cup competition. One of them – a special match between the host Turks and the Tunisian team that did not participate in the tournament – was supposed to take place the day before yesterday, but was canceled due to severe weather conditions.
The grand closing ceremony of the tournament will take place on February 11.
