Negotiations regarding the dismissal of the specialist had been ongoing for some time, until finally a mutually acceptable agreement was reached.
The specialist led the team for three seasons, but failed to win the French championship even once, finishing only third in May.
It is predicted that Puel will be replaced by Remi Garde, the head of the "Lyon" youth academy.
